Hemsby Lifeboat has offered its sincere thanks to all the agencies, local businesses and the community for their support during the Marrams erosion crisis.

A statement said: “Hemsby Lifeboat were humbled by the amount of support they were shown by the entire community and emergency services.”

Daniel Hurd, coxswain, said “It has been a very difficult and sad time for many people and you can’t help but feel great empathy for the affected residents and owners.

“I am proud of my entire team and humbled by the support we have all been shown during this difficult time.”

They have thanked police, Coastguard teams, RHT Removals and Storage Norfolk, the Co-op, the Kings Head pub, chip shops, a bakery, the Tesco in Caister and the Beach Cafe and many more who provided hot food, rolls and soft drinks for the response crews. Sue Weaver, Carole Jones and Charlie Margetson were also praised for their support and assistance.

13 homes have been condemned with five due to be demolished. No homes have as yet fully toppled onto the beach.
