Heritage hub’s volunteers call

Caister Lifeboat’s Heritage Centre has opened for the summer season but needs more volunteers.
The visitor attraction, which draws thousands of people each year, tells 200 years of history of the “Caister Men Who Never Turn Back”.
But owing to ill-health a couple of volunteers have stood down, leaving the organisation short.
Chairman Paul Garrod said they would like to hear from anyone who is friendly and likes meeting new people.
He added: “We can teach the history of the lifeboats to anyone, so long as they’ve got a passion to tell the story to our visitors.
“It’s a fascinating story and all we need is a few more people to help explain who we are and what we do to the public.”
The heritage centre is open 10-3pm on Wednesdays and Sundays until the end of October, and open Thursdays in the school summer holidays. It contains a mass of information about the independent service including the tragedies and the triumphs of the Caister men who Never Turn Back, and service boards detailing ther dates, names of vessels, and those rescued.
