Hickling Broad officials would put the prize money from winning the Warburtons East Anglia Picnic Award towards doing more for local wildlife and rare species - but they need your votes to make it happen.

Up against nine other picnic sites across the region, the much-loved family destination has already been shortlisted as one of East Anglia's top picnic spots.

Fundraising Manager for Norfolk Wildlife Trust Jonathan Leadley said: “We would be thrilled to win as Hickling Broad is such a wonderful place to visit, for wildlife spotting or simply a stunning day out. The prize money of 500 will really help us do more for Norfolk's wildlife, including rare species at Hickling such as swallowtail butterflies, bitterns and marsh harriers.”

The National Picnic Awards, now in their fourth year, are organised as part of the National Bread Week (3rd to 9th May) and aim to find the nation's most idyllic picnic location.

The East Anglia winner will receive 500 to go towards the upkeep of the site - and will then go head to head with other regional winners to be crowned Britain's Best Picnic Site. A cheque for 1,000 will be awarded to the nation's favourite picnic site.
