PUPILS and staff of Hillside Primary School were joined by parents, friends and governors to celebrate the change from First to Primary status. To commemorate this important event, a ceremony was held on the playground with Mrs Barbara Tildesley, who opened the school as a First School in 1976, as special guest for the afternoon.

After pupils had sung, all children were presented with a “Hillside Primary School” mug while Mrs Tildesley unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion. And then there were refreshments and a slice of celebratory cake!

The children were able to show their parents around their new school where several changes have been made over the last few months to ensure Hillside Primary School continues to offer the high standard of education already established and expected at Hillside First.

If you are interested in accessing a place for your child at Hillside, call 01493 661399 to make an appointment to visit the school and nursery. Parents of children who will be starting school September 2009 need to be considering options for their children's future education as the application for first admissions has commenced, with all applications expected to be with the Local Authority by December 31 2008. There are also a few places available in other year groups.
