ON November 27 at exactly 2.45pm, 48 children from Hillside Primary School choir joined in with an estimated 601,639 children from other schools throughout the UK to sing You Gotta Be - led by Des'ree at the O2 arena in London.

The occasion was an attempt at the 2005 Guinness World record (held by Big Sing 2005) of the largest number of children singing simultaneously, currently 293,987.

Each child was counted by independent witnesses in order for this to be a valid Guinness Book of Records attempt. Hillside Primary had their own celebrities, the Rev Charles Powles and Mrs Marilyn Durrant, as witnesses.

The “Big Sing 2008” was also raising money for Clic Sargent, Marie Curie Cancer and Youth Music and the Hillside children had great fun learning and performing the song, taking part, raising money for three worthwhile charities - and hopefully being Guinness World Record holders!
