The Summer term ended at Hillside Primary School in Bradwell with a number of special events.

A special activity week involved children in sports, dance, music, art from around the world.

An end of term concert featured every child in Year 3 and 4 performing. All children in Years 3 and 4 learn to play a musical instrument while some children learn two instruments. There were individual items, as well as small and large ensembles, and items from the school choir.

The evening concluded with all children singing a song which told of the fishing industry in Great Yarmouth.

Sports day featured all children from the school taking part in the organised team events. The highlight of the afternoon were the races which featured the finalists from heats which had taken place in school earlier in the term. The parents, not to miss out on the fun, also took part in races for mums and dads.

Continuing the sporting trend, on the Wednesday, 24 children travelled to Wroughton Junior School to take part in an athletics meeting. Six schools from the Bradwell area took part. Hillside's Year 3 team came 3rd while the Year 4 team came 2nd.

The last day of term mixed fun and sadness. The finals of a girl's football tournament and boys football tournament was played. This was followed by the staff playing a netball match.

However, the school said goodbye to a member of staff who had worked at the school for many years. Mrs Jackie Stearne retired after working in the Special Needs Unit attached to the school for 33 years. She was presented with gifts from the staff and flowers from the school governors.
