The history of Great Yarmouth Town Wall will be the subject of a talk involving digital reconstructions on how it and the town looked in the past.
Paul Patterson will be giving a talk to members of the Great Yarmouth Local History and Archaeological Society on Friday night at Christchurch.
It will show the results of his research into the history of Yarmouth Town Wall with digital reconstructions of how the town looked in the past.
Yarmouth has probably the best preserved medieval town wall in England with 70pc surviving to this day.
It was begun around 1285 and was not finished until 1396. History records that it was only attacked once - in 1549 by insurgents from Kett’s Rebellion. The wall resisted their cannon fire.
Mr Patterson, who went to school Yarmouth and had several jobs in engineering and served in the oil industry, says the talk questions the town wall and the effect it had on the design of the town.
