PUPILS in Year 5 at Homefield Primary School have been involved in an energy saving project run by the National Trust. The pupils have written their own report about their experiences. Here is an example of one of the reports:

“This term we have been the lead class learning about ways to save energy to save our school money and to help conserve supplies of fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil. We have become known as the 'Energy Busters'. We led a whole school assembly to share what we had learned and to give the message to the rest of the school. In groups we have made posters to display around school to remind every one to turn off lights, switch off computers, keep windows closed when the heating is on and turn the radiators down. We have been monitoring each area of the school to check there are no energy crimes being committed by doing spot checks throughout the week!

“This week is Switch Off Keep Cool Week and we are hoping to see a reduction in energy consumption compared to previous weeks. We are hoping that the children and staff at our school will continue the good energy saving habits both at school and at home.”
