PUPILS at Homefield First School in Bradwell hosted a successful Donkey Day on the school field last week.

Each class was given £50 by the head teacher and had to think of ways to generate money from the original £50. And with help from Miss Studley, 1S class teacher and a band of dedicated parents helpers and staff, the Donkey Day was planned and run by the children, all aged five and six. Ticket sales raised £250 and visitors were able to ride on one of the four donkeys, supplied by Hayley Bulgin of Parker's Donkey World, for £1.

Children were divided up into teams including a welfare, health and safety, donkey walking, ticket sales and a photographic team headed by Mrs Corby, classroom assistant for 1S. The welfare team even collected donkey waste which was later sold to a parent for £2!

Money raised will be shared between the Donkey Sanctuary, a visit to Redwings Sanctuary at Fritton and supporting the adoption of a donkey.
