THE trustees of St James' Health and Resource Centre are to honour local champion Cora Batley by naming the centre's community room the Cora Batley Community Room.

Mrs Batley was a founder member of the St James' Trustees, the owners of the resource centre, and has been instrumental in the develop-ment and success of the project.

The centre, which reopened in September 2005 after a £1.4m conversion, provides facilities and services for the community, with health consultations, community meeting and function rooms, offices and advice sessions.

Mrs Batley has devoted many hours working in support of St James'. Her community involvement, commitment and deter-mination has influenced a number of projects, improving the quality of life for local residents.

Throughout her time in South Yarmouth, Mrs Batley's tireless work has put her in close contact with public bodies, voluntary sector organisations and local people and she has long been recognised as a champion for the South Yarmouth comm-unity.

She stepped down as a member of the St James' Trustees recently to concen-trate on other projects but she maintains her position on the board of the Bridge Trust of Great Yarmouth, owners of the Cobholm and Lichfield Health and Resource Centre, to ensure she is still involved in the future of St James'.

A ceremony will be held at St James' Health and Resource Centre at 10.30am on Monday to highlight Mrs Batley's loyalty, hard work and contribution to Yarmouth.
