But now 59-year-old Maureen Gaynor is looking a million dollars thanks to television fashion guru Gok Wan.

Mrs Gaynor, from Hopton, near Great Yarmouth, will be seen on Channel Four on Tuesday night being given a major fashion spring clean on Gok's Fashion Fix.

The colourful television presenter Gok Wan will be seen giving the grandmother a glamorous makeover.

He also helped her ditch the 800 clothes, some dating back to the 1970s, she had stored away in her wardrobe.

Mrs Gaynor, who works as a cleaner, was plucked from one of the 100 women who had queued up outside Yarmouth town hall with some of their wardrobe on April 25 to win a Gok's Fashion Fix makeover.

She had been persuaded to audition for the show by her sister Christine Stephenson as she will be celebrating her 60th birthday and ruby wedding anniversary later this month.

Gok plucked out Mrs Gaynor for a two-day fashion makeover in London as he thought she had a disastrous wardrobe and was upset she hid her slight frame in dull jeans and tops. He also blasted her for bringing a pink and grey top from the 1980s.

On Tuesday Mrs Gaynor, who is married to Paddy and has five grandchildren, will be seen showing off her new glamorous look and her wardrobe which has just been reduced to just 24 essential matching items.

Mrs Gaynor will be seen on Gok's Fashion Fix on Tuesday from 8pm on Channel Four.
