A HORNET'S nest forced a change to the route of a school annual sponsored walk.

But the school is keeping mum about where the nest is in case it encourages sightseers and the insects could give a nasty sting if disturbed.

More than 800 children took part in Acle High School's walk on Friday.

The first leg of the 10-mile seventh annual walk trekked north to Upton, returning to school for lunch between noon and 1pm; then in the afternoon, the column marched out of the back gate and went west into the autumnal farmland towards Norwich. They proceeded along the Windle as usual but this year the usual route was diverted from there to finish at the Gardens - to avoid the hornets nest.
