Vicky Shreeve, 16, of Covent Garden Road, Caister also travelled in a horse drawn carriage to her Caister High School prom night at the Cliff Hotel in Gorleston on Friday.

But on this occasion, the treat was a complete surprise arranged by her mother last year.

Vicky's mother Sue Shreeve said her daughter had been told she would be picked up by a limo following a barbecue with friends at home.

“Come 5.30pm everyone was outside having their picture done. Then the horse turned up and Vicky's face was a picture. I had told Vicky's mates she would not be going by limo and they were all really pleased for her,” she said.

She was joined in the horse drawn carriage by her boyfriend Jack Waitt, 16.

Vicky said: “I was shocked, but it was a nice surprise because I like horses and my auntie Jenny Giles owns some horses. When we were going to the prom everyone was in the street shouting congratulations. I think they thought we had just got married!”
