RADIO Yare's footprint on the map was strengthened at the weekend when Northgate Hospital in Great Yarmouth hosted the area meeting of the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) - the national charity that supports and promotes hospital broadcasting in the UK.

The association currently consists of 229 broadcasting stations heard in 421 hospitals, representing a large number of volunteers working to help make life better for patients.

The delegates were given a tour of the Radio Yare studio and information was exchanged, particularly between the three engineers present. A three course meal was prepared by secretary Diane Clarke and several of her friends. Acting on behalf of the HBA, the meeting was chaired by Mike Sarre, chairman of Hospital Radio Norwich. Among the many things on the agenda were the rules issued to all broadcasters by Ofcom concerning impartiality over the General Election period and fundraising during this difficult economic climate.

Anyone able to spare an hour or two a week helping collect requests from the hospital wards or be trained to operate a mixing desk and broadcast as a presenter should contact: The Membership Secretary, Hospital Radio Yare, Northgate Hospital, Or Telephone 01493 842613.
