The inquest into the death of an elderly woman identified by DNA profiling after a Hemsby house fire will take place next month.

Mary Seagrave died at her home on Ormesby Glebe on March 4 after a fire started at about 7.10pm.

Following a pre-inquest review at Norfolk Coroner’s Court on Friday, senior coroner Jacqueline Lake adjourned proceedings for an inquest to take place on November 16.

Norfolk Police confirmed the cause of the fire was not suspicious following the incident, with emergency services evacuating a number of properties in the street and nearby on Fakes Road as a matter of precaution.

Crews from Martham, Great Yarmouth, Gorleston and Acle were called to the blaze, with firefighters wearing breathing apparatus on scene.

Mrs Seagrave, who lived alone at the house, was described by neighbours as a “lovely lady” following the incident which shocked the community.
