FIVE companies, supported by the Great Yarmouth Marketing Initiative (GYMI), exhibited at the annual Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), Houston, held at the beginning of May.

Local companies C-MAC Microtechnology and Atlas Industrial were joined by Aquaterra, ATB Laurence Scott and Zetechnics on the Energy Industry Council (EIC) stand which represents companies and organisations from across the UK.

The Offshore Technology Conference is the world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection. This year saw the largest exhibition in its 28 year history and attendance reached 72,900 as offshore energy industry experts from around the world came together to share technological advances and innovative approaches at the world's largest event for offshore resources development.

Attendance at this exhibition is recognised as an essential way to ensure that those decision-makers based in what most people now consider to be the capital of the 'oil patch' are kept fully appraised of the new developments and services which we can offer to southern North Sea operators and having a presence at the exhibition once again proved successful for the local companies who made valuable new contacts and promoted themselves to the international energy industry.

David Stannard, GYMI Coordinator said: “Taking Great Yarmouth's message of engineering expertise to the very heart of the international oil industry in Houston is always very important. But such is the success of this expertise that in some cases, local companies have established Houston-based facilities and during the show, senior managers used the time to reinforce the company's presence and establish new links and opportunities.”
