THIS is the first image of the proposed new Sainsbury’s store in Gorleston, set to create up to 350 full and part-time jobs. Spanning 47,000 sq ft, the Beacon Park store will be accompanied by a 545 space car park, petrol filling station and car wash. Inside the supermarket there would be a bakery, fresh fish and meat counter and on-line goods shopping service. Store bosses have reached an agreement with the council over plans, and are hoping to submit a planning application by the end of the year. When plans were revealed, Robert Oxley, development executive at Sainsbury’s, told the Mercury: “We see this as a great opportunity to bring a first class food store to Beacon Park and the wider Gorleston area. The new store will create hundreds of new local jobs and will provide more choice for shoppers. We look forward to discussing the plans with the local community in the coming months.”
Further information about the store will be available at the public exhibitions and feedback forms will also be available to record residents’ views on the proposals.
The exhibitions are being held on Friday, October 19 from 11am to 6pm at the Travelodge in Sidegate Lane, Beacon Park and on Saturday, October 20 from 10am to 3.30pm at Gorleston library in Lowestoft Road.
