Huckerby is joining former Norwich City stars for what he says will be his last game in England - at Wellesley Road.

The winger, who left the Canaries at the end of last season, is lining up for a Dale Gordon Norwich City Legends team against a Great Yarmouth XI on Wednesday, January 28.

The match will be a final chance for City fans show their appreciation for Huckerby, who now plays Major League Soccer in the United States for San Jose Earthquakes.

Speaking to the Mercury Huckerby said: “When Dale asked me to play in the match I did not hesitate.

“I am looking forward to playing with some former team mates, the club was lucky to have so many great attacking players over the years.”

The game has been organised by another former Canaries star, Gordon, who is now director of football at Great Yarmouth.

It is also offering the chance for some lucky Norwich City supporters to play alongside their heroes.

For a bid of £500 each fans can take part in the match for 30 minutes alongside some of the club's all time greats.

The Norwich Legends team is managed by former City boss Dave Stringer and includes Dion Dublin, Iwan Roberts, Darren Eadie, Chris Sutton and Bryan Gunn.

Ex Bloaters boss Bill Punton, who was a member of the Canaries famous 1959 FA cup semi-final side is taking charge of the Great Yarmouth Town X1.

Other stars from the 1959 team are expected to attend the match to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their heroic cup exploits.

Former Norwich, Glasgow Rangers and West Ham star Gordon said the match would be a real boost for Yarmouth.

“Obviously Darren taking part has generated a massive amount of interest, there is a real buzz about the town at the moment and this is increasing the feel good factor,” said Gordon.

“There are just two more spaces left for fans wanting to take part in what would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. It would make an unforgettable Christmas present for any Norwich City supporter.”
