INTENT ON BOOSTING ALE SALES:

A Great Yarmouth microbrewery has opened a new shop selling the county's real ales.

The Norfolk Square Brewery only produced its first beers last year, but its owners say it has gone from strength to strength.

Now they have opened up a new shop at the Norfolk Camping and Leisure store in Old Yarmouth Road, Blofield, which sells Norfolk Square's real ales and those from other Broads microbreweries.

The Estcourt Road-based brewery and real ale shop are run by husband-and-wife team Carlos and Lesley Branquinho, seen here taking a rest in a tent at the store. They quit the rat race in London to open a guest house in the town before turning what had been a home brewing hobby into a career.

Mrs Branquinho said: “Our brewery shop is doing fine but it is slightly off the beaten track. There was a real ale shop at the store before and it used to stock our beer.

“The man who owned it told us he was leaving to go to a new premises and we thought it would be a good opportunity for us to open one in its place.”

Norfolk Square is debuting at the Great Yarmouth Beer and Cider Festival in May.
