SAVING lives is par for the course for the volunteers who form Great Yarmouth Community Responder scheme, and last week the team took delivery of embroidered polo shirts donated by Chris Ashdown and his team at Internet Workwear. The company provide quality work wear which includes nurse’s uniforms and other workplace products.

John Lucas, the Responders scheme coordinator, thanked Chris and his staff at the firm’s showroom on South Quay, for their generosity.

As members of the community who respond to 999 calls and assist the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAS), John hopes very few people will actually see the shirts close-up. The GY Responders are a group of volunteers who use some of their spare time in answering 999 calls in the area in which they live. Full training is given by the EEAS so no first aid knowledge is needed. The GY Responders is a charity organisation and any donations are spent on life-saving equipment and on-going training. The scheme is also looking for more volunteers, particularly in the centre and north of the town. If anyone is interested in joining the scheme, or making a donation, visit the website www.gyresponders.org, or call John on 07909 220247.
