A sex offender who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old after inviting him into his home in Great Yarmouth was jailed for a year and placed on the sex offender's register for 10 years.

Kevin Clarke, 31, was also banned for life from working with children.

Norwich Crown Court heard that Clarke had previous convictions for sex assaults on young boys.

In 2003, he was jailed for 31 months after being found guilty of indecently assaulting three boys under 16. Clarke met the boys through Hethersett Scout Group and the village's Methodist Church.

Andrew Shaw, prosecuting, said in the latest assault Clarke met the victim outside his home in Walpole Road, and invited him into his home to see his pet gerbils.

Mr Shaw said that when the youth went in the house with Clarke, he then assaulted him.

Michael Clare, for Clarke, said he did not mean to cause any upset and stopped as soon as he realised the boy did not want anything to happen.
