YEAR 6 pupils Jessica Mason and Erika Boulton became headteacher and deputy headteacher respectively at St Nicholas Priory Middle School on Thursday.

And assistant head Mrs Brand swapped places to be a Y6 pupil for the day.

Jessica and Erika applied for the positions using real headteacher application forms and were chosen as the successful candidates after going through a formal interview process. The girls arrived at school bright and early and led a staff briefing before the school day began for pupils. During the day, Jessica and Erika visited all classrooms to check things were as they should be and visited the school cook and her staff to see how the dinners were progressing for lunchtime. They prepared and led an act of worship for Y4 and wrote a newsletter for parents to let them know how their day went. The girls also negotiated a budget of £75 which they used to purchase glue sticks, pencils and paper for every class. Jessica and Erika reported that children behaved well and the act of worship went really well although it was very “nerve racking.”
