Paralympic swimmer Jessica-Jane Applegate will officially open the Phoenix pool and gym at 10am on Tuesday, October 25.
The opening follows Jessica- Jane’s medal success in Rio and she will be unveiling a special plaque and taking a guided tour of the new facilities, including the newly-refurbished pool hall at the complex in Widgeon Close, Bradwell.
Great Yarmouth Borough Council has recently completed a £1.9m state-of-the-art redevelopment of the leisure facility. The investment has transformed the once-outdated pool into a 21st century community leisure centre for all, boasting a new health and fitness suite in a new extension, plus a modernised pool hall, which meet local needs in and around Bradwell.
The complex boasts a refurbished pool hall, improved spectator seating, improved swim school, new thermal spa pool-side offering, new changing areas, new reception and entrance area and new online sign-up and class booking services.
Developed in partnership with centre operator Sentinel Leisure Trust and strategic leisure partner Pulse, the centre also has a new 60-station fitness suite, featuring the latest cardiovascular equipment along with resistance kit and a functional training area, plus a new multi-functional group fitness studio with a range of group fitness classes each week.
