As a local newspaper, we get invited to various events and functions across the year -and sadly we can’t get to them all.
However, when the residents of Wherry Way sheltered housing in Great Yarmouth organised their annual Christmas party, they were so keen for the Mercury to be there that they invited us way back in October.
It was October 12 that organiser Doris Knell emailed the paper, inviting us along to share their special day, held on Tuesday.
Festive cheer was at a high when the residents got together in the community room, as dozens of people enjoyed drinks, music and a buffet.
Mrs Knell said: “It’s lovely for us all to be able to get together, we really don’t do it enough.”
The 82-year-old, who has lived at the supported housing complex in Wherry Way for 11 years, added: “Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a really nice time, so it’s been a lovely afternoon.”
“I’d like to thank all the people who has helped us organise it and wish everybody a very happy Christmas.”
