In a national Sunday newspaper, a story about JK's great grandfather revealed he had married the daughter of a coastguard, Eliza Mary Ann Smith, in Gorleston, Norfolk, on January 22 1900, and set up home in London.
The author's great grandfather, Louis Volant, was awarded the Legion d'honneur for bravery during the Battle of Verdun during the first world war.
