THE Norfolk Provincial Grand Lodge celebrates 250 years of Freemasonry in Norfolk and as part of the celebrations Great Yarmouth Masonic association will hold a two-day festival this month.

THE Norfolk Provincial Grand Lodge celebrates 250 years of Freemasonry in Norfolk and as part of the celebrations Great Yarmouth Masonic association will hold a two-day festival this month.

The Masonic and Social Festival will be held at the Royal Masonic Rooms in Albert Square, next Friday and Saturday, August 14 and 15 between 10am and 4pm.

The festival will be opened by mason dignitary Worshipful Brother Stephen Allen, along with Yarmouth mayor Tony Smith.

On Friday people will have the chance to visit the building which will host displays and exhibitions on the lodges history.

The Maids Head Lodge will perform plays throughout the day, providing an insight into the origins of the Norfolk Provincial Grand Lodge, which held its first meeting on September 6, 1759.

During the evening there will be a Musical Variety Show featuring Oli Day and a cast of singers, dancers and comedians.

The eve at 7.30pm is open to freemasons and their guests and admission is �5.

On Saturday there will be a car show in the car park supported by members of the Jaguar Club and there will be a fashion and beauty show in the building throughout the day with a fashion accessories display.

In the evening a Masquerade Ball will be held for members and will include a gourmet meal with entertainment provided by the Mike West Band.
