KATIE Ballam has a modelling career in her sights after winning a place in the latest stage of the Grid Girls contest.

The 19-year-old is one of 100 entrants taking part in the current round of the competition organised by the Kerri Parker Model Academy.

Katie was encouraged to enter by mum Sue, who works for the NHS in Great Yarmouth.

UEA student Katie said: “Getting involved in modelling would be a great way to earn some extra money. I like to think I have a style of my own - it's fun to challenge the stereotype.”

The two winners from each round will appear as grid girls at the Foxhill Motorcross and British Superbike Championship and appear in the 2011 Grid Girls calendar.
