A prominent supporter of the Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, said he should visit Great Yarmouth as part of his leadership campaign tour.
Clive Lewis, Norwich South MP, who was part of Mr Corbyn’s campaign last summer, said the veteran left-winger’s “revitalisation of British politics from the centre left” should not be “pooh-poohed or dismissed as something which is outside of parliament and of no consequence.”
Mr Lewis said Mr Corbyn should be visiting Yarmouth as it is the kind of seat the party should start winning, adding: “He needs to show he has something to say not just for the university lecturer in Norwich, but for the single mum with two kids holding down three jobs as well. That is the reality of where he is. I think his campaign has to change.”
Mr Lewis admitted Labour’s crisis went beyond leadership, claiming neither Mr Corbyn nor Owen Smith, the other leadership candidate, could solve the party’s problems on their own.
