HOLKHAM Beach officials would use the prize money from winning the Warburtons East Anglia Picnic Award to buy extra benches for visitors to soak up the stunning views - but they need your votes to make it happen.

Holkham Beach, which won last year's regional award, has again been nominated as one of East Anglia's top picnic spots - however Norfolk families only have until April 17 to vote for the park in this year's Warburtons National Picnic Awards, by logging onto www.welovebread.co.uk.

Laurane Herrieven from Holkham Beach said: “As we did win an award last year we did not anticipate being nominated this year but we are delighted that Holkham Beach has been put forward once again. We have a number of environmental projects being planned for this area and are also looking at buying some benches along the path from Wells to Holkham for weary visitors to take a break.”

Norfolk families are also encouraged to put their votes forward for other great picnic sites that have been nominated in the awards such as, Hickling broad, Knettishall Heath, Thrigby Hall and Sea Palling Beach.

The National Picnic Awards, now in their third year and organised as part of the National Bread Week (from May 4-10) aim to find the nation's most idyllic picnic location.

The East Anglia winner will receive 500 to go towards the upkeep of the site - and will then go head to head with other regional winners to be crowned Britain's Best Picnic Site. A cheque for 1,000 will be awarded to the nation's favourite picnic site.

Last year's national winner went to Yorkshire's Sewerby Hall and Gardens. This time round Holkham Beach is up against, among others, Grafham Water and Milton Country Park in Cambridgeshire.

To vote for your favourite Norfolk picnic site and to be in with a chance of winning 1,000 log onto www.welovebread.co.uk and register your vote today.

The regional winner will be announced week commencing May 5.
