Last Yarmouth students to go in Den?

THE next generation of budding businessmen gathered in Yarmouth yesterday as youngsters received awards for their Dragon's Den-style ideas.But the day of celebration marking the high school and college students' business acumen was marred as they heard impassioned pleas to make sure it was not the last time such an event will be held in the town.

But the day of celebration marking the high school and college students' business acumen was marred as they heard impassioned pleas to make sure it was not the last time such an event will be held in the town.

As the awards were handed out to the students for setting up their own successful companies and organising profitable events, organiser enterpriseGY was criticised for slashing future youth education funding from this summer.

enterpriseGY will be scrapping the �400,000 scheme and high profile awards ceremony so it can focus on supporting small businesses during the economic downturn.

Yesterday's event at Yarmouth racecourse is probably the last of its kind and follows on from a Dragons Den type event in November when students pitched their business plans to a panel of experts.
