The lifeboat crew who have been at the heart of the response to the Hemsby homes erosion threat have thanked the businesses, shops and people who have donated them food.

More than a dozen members of the independent Hemsby Lifeboat Station have been working flat out, along with other emergency services, to deal with severe weekend erosion at Hemsby.

The lifeboat volunteers have been on patrol/duties since Friday night.

So far 11 homes have been evacuated as the bad weather continues to batter the village’s coastline.

A statement on the station’s Facebook page said: “Massive thanks to all the local shops, companies & residents who have been donating food to our crew & the other emergency services who have been on service, the support really has been appreciated

“Also thank you to the Long Beach store for supplying a gas cycinder to help keep the Lifeboat station warm.”
