THE crew of the Gorleston inshore lifeboat was giving a demonstration to youngsters from the Cobholm-based TS Warrior Sea Training Corps at about 1pm yesterday when they were suddenly diverted to a yacht which had gone aground near Breydon Bridge.
The lifeboat was quickly able to refloat the 7ft craft, enabling the male sailor to continue his voyage along the River Yare.
Meanwhile, at about the same time, the crew of the Southwold lifeboat successfully rescued a chocolate-brown labrador cross that had fallen into the River Blyth on the Walberswick side.
