A LIONS club is appealing for new members to come forward to help with its fundraising campaigns in the Acle area.
Currently, the 12 members of Acle and District Lions are stretched and would like to do more fundraising, especially in Acle village.
Branch president Nick Bowler said this Christmas, members had to focus more on raising money in Brundall than Acle because there were not enough volunteers to cover the latter village.
Collections will be held outside the Budgens store in Brundall on December 12 and at the village's Christmas festival on December 19. All proceeds will go towards paying for a new 3,000 defibrillator for the Brundall First Responders Group.
Mr Bowler added as well as fundraising events, the branch also organised sponsored walks and regularly met up for social functions.
Although new recruits are needed, the branch has steadily grown from four members four years to the current 12 volunteers.
He said: “We have increased our membership, but the more the merrier and there is no limit to the numbers we can have. Our main function is to raise money but we have fun doing it and we meet up for drinks and social outings.”
