Local firm wins holiday guide deal

THE next Greater Yarmouth holiday brochure and What's On guide will be produced in the town for the first time in 40 years.

TMS Media won the contract to produce both publications, the main 2010 brochure with a print run of 100,000 copies and the events and attractions guide which goes out to around 400,000 people.

TMS Media won the contract to produce both publications, the main 2010 brochure with a print run of 100,000 copies and the events and attractions guide which goes out to around 400,000 people.

“We've only competed for this business once before in our 20-year history so we're delighted to have been chosen for this important work right on our doorstep,” said TMS managing director Steve Scott.

“It's more than just another job for us. We want to play a key role in attracting visitors to this area, to show why it appeals to so many different people for such diverse reasons and to enhance Greater Yarmouth's place on the holiday map.”

Head of tourism at Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Alan Carr, said more than 180 companies from the UK and abroad had inquired about producing the publications, but TMS Media won the job on design and price.

He was delighted they would be working with a company from the town and impressed by some of the early design examples.

“We get demand for the brochure from all over the UK and overseas, from loyal people who come every year to newcomers to our popular seaside resort,” he said.

Hotels and the self-catering business confirmed the predicted increase in 'staycation' business as the recession and weak pound persuaded people to book holidays closer to home and vibes were good for next year.
