CAR chases, illegal raves and gang warfare feature amongst the action packed scenes in a new film.

It is a story line that might be expected in a Hollywood thriller, but Stagger has been set and shot on the East Coast.

First time director and lead actor Paul Easter decided to make his own movie after growing frustrated auditioning for parts.

Now Paul is hoping to get a cinema release for the film, which has been shot at locations in Lowestoft, Kessingland and Carlton Colville.

The cast of Stagger is made up of local amateur actors who contacted Paul after his plan to make the movie was reported in the Mercury earlier this year.

“The actors were recruited through the article in the Mercury and they are all local to the area,” said Paul.

“I was very surprised how confident they were and how much local talent there is in the area, they had real screen presence.”

Professional actor Paul, who lives near Beccles, was spurred into making the film after becoming frustrated at having to travel to London to audition for often minor roles.

He plays the role of Jake in the film, which focuses on the clash between rival gangs organising illegal raves.

“There were one or two problems, but we managed to work round them and got 80 minutes of footage from nearly 15 hours of shooting, which is pretty good,” said Paul.

“My character gets stronger and stronger throughout the film, so I sort of found my feet with him.”
