ACLE High School women's team successfully completed the Race for Life on Sunday at the Norfolk Showground.

They all finished in a good time and managed to raise a reasonable amount of money to go towards Cancer Research - the charity that stages the 5km run as a fundraising and fitness challenge to women, most of whom have been touched in some way by the disease.

Meanwhile at an earlier event also in aid of Cancer Research 140 girls and staff from Acle High School raced around a makeshift course that included a lap of the front playground and a lap of the field. Each of the runners - some of whom where in fancy dress or three-legged - had got sponsorship from family and friends.

Megan Wilson from Year 7 won the race with Megan Humphreys from Year 11 coming second. Lorna Miller-Fitz from Year 7 came third.

A report compiled by year 7 students Heidi Ogg and Melissa Willrich said they hoped to make it an annual event.

A team of ladies from Tesco in Caister took part in Race for Life - with 14 staff members taking part in races on Saturday and Sunday, raising more than 1,000. The ladies in the Sunday team would like to thank bus driver Ray, who donated his fee.
