POLICE are urging Loddon residents to be on their guard following arson attacks in the village in the early hours of the morning.

Firefighters were called to three separate incidents shortly after midnight in Leman Grove, The Walks and a mini-recycling centre outside Jubilee Hall in George Lane.

Officers believe all three fires were started deliberately and have appealed for anyone who may know who is responsible to come forward.

Insp John Allison, of Poringland and Loddon Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Such actions are totally irresponsible and could have very serious consequences.

“Norfolk Constabulary is working with the Fire Service and other partners, including the local council, in a bid to tackle the problem.

“We would advise householders not to put their wheelie bins out until the day they are due to be collected if possible.”

Witnesses should contact Insp John Allison at Poringland Police Station on 0845 456 4567 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
