Pupils at Ludham First School were amazed to find 30 balloons in their village on Friday morning at White House Farm. They had been launched by youngsters from a Lancashire primary school the day before as part of national book-reading event. And the balloons, which had tags about pupils' favourite books, reached the 230 miles to Ludham just as quickly as first-class post. The find has led to both schools forging close links as the Norfolk pupils are now sending their lists of their novels back to Waterfoot Primary, near Rossendale - by post instead of balloon-mail.
