CHILDREN are determined to show they are “on the ball” with their reading skills by participating in a reading project organised by Norwich City.

The Year 7 pupils at Lynn Grove High School have started out on their Champions Read initiative where they have to read 11 books and keep a record of each one for the chance to visit the club's Carrow Road ground and take a tour of its facilities.

The Year 7 pupils at Lynn Grove High School have started out on their Champions Read initiative where they have to read 11 books and keep a record of each one for the chance to visit the club's Carrow Road ground and take a tour of its facilities.

Nettie Bowles, learning resources co-ordinator with the school's library, said the children could read books, football programmes or newspaper articles about Norwich City, and once each reading task had been completed they would receive a goal to count towards the prizes.

The project was organised by Chantelle Gray, the school's English and PE teacher, and the school was visited by two of the football club's teachers- Paul Wickens and James Roberts- last Thursday .

Mrs Bowles said: “The children were really looking forward to it. They are really looking forward to it. The youngsters kept coming into the library asking when they could start reading the books.”
