Gorleston's Pier Hotel is to undergo a major revamp, starting on Monday, in preparation for the new season.

A large area of the ground floor will be closed for up to eight weeks for remodelling work to create a larger bar area and separate restaurant.

Owner Rodney Scott said the open-plan nature of the ground floor meant the holding of functions had been disruptive to the normal running of the hotel.

He said the bar would stay open serving food throughout the work and the hotel would remain open for guests.
