Finally, what businesses have been waiting to hear, the press have had enough of reporting on the negative stories surrounding the recession, and are now urging businesses to get in touch and share their positive stories.

Dominic Bareham, senior reporters with the Great Yarmouth Mercury, provided examples of how businesses can utilise the press to promote their company, and enhance their public image but emphasised it needed to be a news story not a sales pitch.

Businesses were also able to meet with key support organisations and get advice in an informal and relaxed way.

Feedback from this event was very positive and that they were looking forward to the next enterpriseGY club event in October.

enterpriseGY is a government-funded programme designed to help transform the economic future of Great Yarmouth. For more information on how enterpriseGY can benefit your business, visit www.enterpriseGY.co.uk .

The Chamber is eager to lobby and campaign for changes to be made in Yarmouth and asked delegates to complete a survey about what they felt the Chamber should be taking action on, as shown in the graph 83.3pc of delegates voted for roads confirming that transport is businesses top priority.

However, it was surprising to see that only 50pc voted for skills, as at a recent Norwich Chamber breakfast the keynote speaker discussed the results of a regional study carried out on behalf of the East of England Development Agency which showed only 40pc of the residents in Great Yarmouth had GCSE's, and increasing skills in Norfolk is still a big challenge that should be on everyone's agenda.
