A MAN from Kent who was arrested on suspicion of robbing a Great Yarmouth jewellers has been bailed by police pending further enquiries.Staff at Cox and Son, in Northgate Street, chased off two hammer-wielding robbers on Saturday afternoon.

Staff at Cox and Son, in Northgate Street, chased off two hammer-wielding robbers on Saturday afternoon.

The thieves snatched a selection of watches and got into a red and grey Rover 214 car, where a third man was waiting as driver. The vehicle was later found abandoned at the back of East Road, close to the cemetery grounds of St Nicholas's Church.

Police have confirmed they are investigating possible links with attempted raids on Zelley jewellers in Market Square, Bishop's Stortford, on Thursday and a jewellers at Southend on Friday. In both cases, the robbers were also armed with a sledge-hammer but left empty handed.
