A GREAT Yarmouth man was in a critical condition last night after the car he was driving ploughed into a water-filled ditch.
The 20-year-old man suffered severe head injuries, a punctured lung and numerous broken bones after his Red Fiesta left the road B1159 Horsey Road at Somerton on Wednesday night.
Fire crews from Martham and Yarmouth had to pull the unconscious man from the car, which was full of water.
An ambulance took him to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and because of his serious injuries he was then transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridgeshire.
Last night police described his condition as critical but stable.
A male passenger in the car was treated at the scene for minor injuries following the accident, which happened at about 7pm.
Anyone with information on the crash should contact PC Shaun Turner, of Acle road policing unit, on 0845 4564567.
