A MAN who purchased alcohol for underage drinkers in Gorleston has been fined �80. The 24-year-old was issued with a fixed penalty notice after buying three litres of cider for under-18s from a shop at Bells Road on Wednesday last week.
A MAN who purchased alcohol for underage drinkers in Gorleston has been fined �80.
The 24-year-old was issued with a fixed penalty notice after buying three litres of cider for under-18s from a shop at Bells Road on Wednesday last week.
The young people had previously been banned from the shop after attempting to buy alcohol.
Police Community Support Officer Dawn Kemp, of Gorleston SNT, said: “Purchasing alcohol on behalf of people under the age of 18 is a criminal offence and is very irresponsible.
“Underage people drinking alcohol on the streets can have far reaching consequences including anti-social behaviour and minor criminal damage.
"Anyone found buying alcohol for young people run the risk of an �80 fine which could potentially rise to �1,000 if the matter is taken to court.”
