A man is hoping to reunite a watch with the family of a Gorleston First World War hero.

Andy Williams was passed a watch from his step brother which belonged to Corporal Robert Kemp.

Mr Kemp was believed have been born in Southtown, lived in Gorleston and served for the Suffolk regiment in the war.

Mr Williams is hoping to find any descendants of Mr Kemp, so he can return the watch to them at no cost.

He said: “My step brother was employed to clear the house of an old man in Sutton Coldfield, near Birmingham who recently died.

“It was there he found the watch which had engraved on it ‘Corporal Robert Kemp, Suffolk Regiment, British Prisoner of War, Giessen, Germany, 1915-1916’.

“My step dad recommended it be passed on to me as I am into history and after a bit of research through items such as censuses and through his service number I was able to find out where he was from.

“I would love to know if there was any pictures of him, and I would like to return the watch back to his family.”

It is believed his father was called John and his mother Elizabeth.

He also had a number of siblings called Thomas, Fred, Ernest, Jessie and Kate, though there may have been others. There is no further information known about his life or his family so far.
