Man punched in Hopton

A 53-YEAR-OLD man was punched during an attempted robbery near Hopton First School on Monday.

The victim was walking from a local holiday park towards the village when a vehicle with four males inside pulled up alongside him.

The victim was walking from a local holiday park towards the village when a vehicle with four males inside pulled up alongside him.

They initially asked him for directions, then three of the males got out of the vehicle and asked the victim if he had any money. He was then punched and fell to the ground before the suspects fled empty handed.

Police are appealing for information in relation to the attempted robbery in Coast Road between 1.10am and 1.20am.
