A doorman had the main chunk of his ear bitten off in an incident on Great Yarmouth's Britannia Pier.

The victim, who has not been named but is local, was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital while someone else scooped up the missing piece from the floor following the attack outside Long John's bar on Friday February 6 just before midnight.

As police continued their investigations this week it is understood that surgeons were unable to reattach the ear.

A police spokesman said two teenagers - one of whom was celebrating his 18th birthday - had been arrested at the scene following the incident and bailed to appear in court next month.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack but are keen to hear from any witnesses they have not yet spoken to. Call Great Yarmouth CID on 0845 4564567.
