A DRUNKEN man plunged into the River Yare at the second attempt on Wednesday evening after his first try ended with him landing flat on his back on a boat.
The Yarmouth Coastguard and police were called to deal with the man by the river wall at Town Hall Quay in Great Yarmouth shortly before 9pm.
David Moore, watch officer at Yarmouth Coastguard, said the coastguard received a call from Yarmouth Port Authority about a man endangering himself by the river wall close to the Town Hall.
He said the man initially landed on a green boat then jumped from the boat into the river when passers-by asked him what he was doing. He then swam across the river before getting out and heading in the direction of the Matalan store car park in Southtown Road.
