Currently, revellers enjoying the seafront’s bars, clubs and amusements can hail their hackney carriage from a rank on Trafalgar Road, or a bay outside the Tower Complex.

However, the Trafalgar Road bay is soon to be moved, after Great Yarmouth Borough Council’s licensing committee agreed to establish a new one on Marine Parade.

The new rank, which will be 12m in length, will be added to the side of Marine Parade, close to the verge between the junctions with Trafalgar Road and Trafalgar Square.

Additionally, the existing taxi rank leading up to the Standard Road junction will be extended by 10m.

The decision has been made to allow Norfolk County Council to carry out its proposed alterations to Trafalgar Road, including the addition of a new cycle path.
