These dramatic photographs show how precariously the erosion-threatened homes at the Marrams are balanced on the clifftop edge as they teeter on the edge of destruction at Hemsby.

They show how some of the houses appear to be nearly 30pc over the ledge with possessions tumbling on to the beach below.

The images come as people are ignoring warnings from the lifeboat station to stay away from the crumbling cliffs.

Yesterday afternoon Brandon Lewis, MP for Great Yarmouth, tweeted: “Discussed Hemsby with local volunteers today, as have with cllrs every day, inc local Parish Council Chair re short term needs & long term aim to get protection scheme approved then seek funding.”

A total of 13 homes have been evacuated.

All the homeowners affected had given their permission for the homes to be torn down and Great Yarmouth Borough Council is working with insurance companies to make sure they were happy too.

The council was also looking to meet with the Geoffrey Watling Trust which owns the beach from the high tide to understand who had responsibility for what.
